CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Firefighters rescued a man trapped in his vehicle after crashing into a hydrant in Chula Vista around 3 a.m. Monday.

The driver sheared off the hydrant, causing a large geyser to shoot into the sky and making it difficult for crews to rescue the man.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to help extricate the man, all while being doused by thousands of gallons of water.

The man was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
