Spring Valley woman killed in high-speed freeway crash

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. -- A South Bay freeway connector ramp closed after a motorist died in a single-vehicle crash reopened early Tuesday.

A vehicle driven by 25-year-old Elizabeth Sandoval of Spring Valley slammed into an under-construction bridge wall on the ramp from westbound state Route 54 to southbound Interstate 805 in National City shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday.

California Highway Patrol noted the car's speedometer was stuck at 105 mph, however its exact speed before the fatal collision is under investigation.

The wreck prompted authorities to shut down the connector ramp and issue a SigAlert. The ramp was reopened shortly after 2 a.m.
