Teens arrested following middle school break-in, vandalism

LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Three juveniles suspected of vandalizing a middle school in La Jolla Wednesday have been taken into custody by police.

Officers responded to an alarm at Muirlands Middle School around 2:30 a.m.  Police say a trash can was set on fire, cash was stolen from the principal's office, graffiti was on the walls and windows were broken.

It's not known whether the teens are students at the middle school.

Teachers have recently been at the school preparing for students to return on Monday, August 29.
