Employees held hostage while gunmen ransack cell phone store

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Carlsbad police are searching for three men who robbed a Verizon store at gunpoint.

The gunman and another one of the suspects ordered employees at the store on Carlsbad Village Drive near Jefferson Street into a back room while the third ransacked the business and loaded phones into a bag shortly before 7:30 p.m. Monday, according to a Carlsbad police statement.

The robbers then ordered the store's employees to lay on the floor as they escaped, police said.
