OCEANSIDE, Calif. – A dream came true for long-time surfer Paul Solomon who hasn't been able to ride a wave for years -- until today.
Solomon, who suffered a stroke six years ago which caused partial paralysis on his left side of his body, was able to get out on the water in Oceanside Harbor Monday while using a special paddle board.
It was a thrill for Solomon who surfed for nearly 40 years before his stroke. His family and friends stayed on the dock and watched as he moved around the harbor. At one point, Solomon grabbed an oar with his right hand and helped steer the modified paddle board.
Solomon's dream came true thanks to the wellness staff at the assisted living community Cypress Court of Escondido and Scott Brown at Pushing for Independence.
