SAN DIEGO — Firefighters were battling a wildfire burning along the Mexican border south of Bell Valley near the community of Potrero.
As of 9 p.m. Saturday, the fire was approximately 75 acres and entirely in Mexico.
Cal Fire and San Diego County Fire sent 12 engines, four water tenders and approximately 100 firefighters at the scene to keep it from spreading north of the border.
Last month, flames burned more than 7,600 acres in Potrero. Two people were killed and five homes were destroyed.
