One of two suspects was arrested after a man was carjacked in Encanto early Monday.

SAN DIEGO – One of two people who allegedly carjacked a motorist in the Encanto area early Monday was arrested shortly afterward.

A 28-year-old woman, whose name was not immediately available, and a man distracted the victim as he was checking for a possible flat tire on his Toyota Tacoma pickup truck on Imperial Avenue near 62nd Street shortly after 1 a.m., San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

The male suspect punched the 43-year-old victim several times in the head as the woman hopped into the truck and drove off, Delimitros said.

Officers spotted the truck as tools were being unloaded from the bed in the 5900 block of Linnett Street, according to the officer. The female suspect was taken into custody at that time.
