SAN DIEGO – It’s the Fourth of July in San Diego, which means there is no shortage of spectacular fireworks shows to enjoy. Here’s a list of fireworks shows on Monday around the county.
The San Diego Bay will light up at 9 p.m. with the annual Port of San Diego Big Bay Boom Fourth of July Fireworks Show. Watch the spectacular show from several locations, including the Coronado Ferry Landing, Shelter Island, Harbor Island, North Embarcadero, Marina District and Seaport Village. The show will have choreographed music on Mighty 1090AM and MAX 105.7FM.
Scripps Mesa Fireworks will put on its annual show at 9 p.m. at Mira Mesa High School, located at 10510 Reagan Road. The nonprofit recommends setting your radio to 96.5 KYXY.
A fireworks display will be featured at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista at 9 p.m. The show will be set to simultaneous music on the radio. Participating stations are 91X, Magic 92.5, 100.78 KFMB BFM, AM 760 and Z90.3.
The fireworks will be launched from the athlete training grounds. Viewing will be available at the Olympic Training Center and Mountain Hawk Park. Parking at the Visitor’s entrance is limited to 500 cars and cost $10 (cash only). Gates open at 6 p.m., and no alcohol is allowed. Visit this website for more information.
As part of the annual Fourth of July Carnival, National City will hold a fireworks show at 9 p.m. at Kimball Park at 12th and D Street. For more information, click here.
At the San Diego County Fair, a 20-minute fireworks show starts at 9 p.m. and is visible throughout the faigrounds. Monday is the closing day of the fair’s 2016 season. Click here for more information.
A variety of activities are scheduled throughout the day in Coronado, starting at 7 a.m. with 5K and 12K runs at Tidelands Park, an art show at 8 a.m. at Spreckels Park, a 9 a.m. rough water swim at Central Beach, and the annual parade running along Orange Avenue beginning at 10 a.m.
Family activities, live music and food will be the highlights prior to fireworks at several locations around the county, including Kennedy Park in El Cajon, Town Center Community Park in Santee, the California Center for the Arts in Escondido and Old Poway Park in Poway.
Local events will also include the final day of the San Diego County Fair, which will include a fireworks show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, and a Summer Pops Show at Embarcadero Marina Park South, featuring Cash’d Out, a Johnny Cash tribute band.
