SWAT situation ends at City Heights apartment

SAN DIEGO — San Diego Police SWAT officers surrounded an apartment building Saturday afternoon after a man called 911 and threatened to commit suicide, according to authorities.

The unidentified man called 911 shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday and told the dispatcher he wanted to commit suicide at an apartment in the 4400 block of Quince Street, according to officer Frank Cali.

When officers entered the apartment around 2 p.m., they found his body, according to officer Frank Cali.

Neighbors reported hearing at least one gunshot in the area since the phone call, Cali said. Patrol officers called in the SWAT team when no one answered the apartment door.
