SAN DIEGO – The man who allegedly got away after a wild chase with police through San Diego two months ago was behind bars Thursday, police said.

Ahren Haugley, 41, was arrested at The Villas at Paseo Montanoso in Rancho Bernardo Thursday morning after a manager of the apartment complex saw him sleeping in a truck.

Haugley is accused of driving a red Honda and leading San Diego police on a wild chase from La Jolla to downtown San Diego on April 29. The driver managed to ditch the car on F Street and run away.

Two months later and 20 miles north of where the car was ditched, police nabbed the suspect while he slept in a stolen white Chevy truck.

Police knocked on the truck window Thursday morning and Haugley tried to run away again, police said. Officers got into a physical fight with the man before taking him into custody.

Haugley is being held at San Diego Central Jail. He faces a number of charges including resisting arrest, drug charges and stealing a vehicle.
