SAN DIEGO — A gunman who was also armed with a Taser stole two purses from a hair braiding salon in the Rolando Park section of San Diego Wednesday.

The suspect was carrying a Taser when he entered Sonya’s Hair Braiding Salon at 6429 University Ave. about 4:25 p.m., according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.

He pointed the device at an employee and demanded money, Heims said.

“When the suspect did not get any money he lifted his shirt up showing a gun in the front of his waistband,” Heims said. “The suspect still did not get any money, so he grabbed an employee’s purse and customer’s purse and fled out the back door.”

The bandit was described as black, in his 30s, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall and 180-215 pounds. He was clean-shaven and wore a camouflage baseball cap, white T-shirt, khaki shorts and sunglasses.
