SAN DIEGO -- Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders held a rally in Mission Valley Sunday afternoon, two days before the California primary.

Thousands attended the event in the parking lot of Qualcomm Stadium.

Some supporters had lined up since 10 a.m. for the 5 p.m. event, which featured several bands, comic George Lopez and political activist Cornel West.

Sanders previously spoke to an estimated 12,000 people in March at the San Diego Convention Center and made appearances last month in National City and Vista.

Despite trailing Clinton by a wide margin in the Democratic delegate count, he’s kept up a hectic campaigning pace in California in advance of Tuesday’s election.
