SAN DIEGO — A 32-year-old suspected drunken driver was facing a slew of charges Tuesday following a pursuit and collision in Valencia Park that left three occupants of a second car injured.

Officers attempted to stop an Acura sedan seen being driven erratically in the vicinity of Imperial Avenue and 53rd Street around 10:15 p.m. Monday, but the man behind the wheel sped off, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

Police chased the Acura until it crashed into a Honda sedan at a nearby intersection. Delimitros said the Honda’s occupants and the Acura’s driver were injured and were all taken to hospitals.

A subsequent search of the Acura turned up methamphetamine and evidence of possession of controlled substance for sale, Delimitros said. The driver, whose name was not immediately available, is expected to face charges of felony evading, DUI causing injury, possession of controlled substance for sale and reckless driving, according to the officer.
