Carjacking reported in San Ysidro

SAN DIEGO – An early morning carjacking in San Ysidro was being investigated by San Diego police Saturday.

It happened shortly before 2 a.m. at 333 E. San Ysidro Blvd., when a man was accosted as he was getting into a pickup truck, San Diego Police Sgt. David Jennings said.

A man and a woman pulled the victim from a red, 1998 Dodge Dakota, got in the vehicle and took off toward a freeway, Jennings said.

The suspects were described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, wearing a gray jacket and tan pants, and a Hispanic woman in her 30s.

The truck had a California license plate with the number 5Y02197. The San Diego Police Robbery Unit was handling the investigation.

Anyone with information on the carjacking was urged to call the San Diego Police non-emergency line at 619-531-2000.
