PALA, Calif. — A man and woman suspected of stealing more than $1,000 in cash and gift cards from a newlywed couple’s wedding reception in Pala and then using the cards at a Target store in Upland were arrested Friday.

Breeana Bock and her boyfriend Jake Rubidoux were arrested by San Diego County sheriff’s detectives at their homes in Rancho Cucamonga, sheriff’s Sgt. James McConnaughey said.

Tiffany and Michael Booth were married on Oct. 30 at Whispering Oaks Terrace at 39417 Pala Temecula Road, McConnaughey said.

“During the reception, several envelopes containing U.S. currency and gift cards meant for the bride and groom totaling $1,075 were stolen from the bridal room,” McConnaughey said.

Bock and Rubidoux were seen in the room, where Bock was observed “shoving unknown items into her purse before leaving,” according to McConnaughey.

The bride later obtained numbers from two Target gift cards that were stolen and on Oct. 31 discovered they were used at a Target store at 1931 N. Campus Ave. in Upland, McConnaughey said.

Detectives contacted the store “and determined that Bock and Rubidoux were the suspects seen on store surveillance” using the cards, he said.

Detectives today asked Rancho Cucamonga police to locate and detain the two, who were interviewed at the San Diego County Sheriff’s Valley Center Substation, McConnaughey said.

“Bock admitted to stealing the cash and gift cards from the wedding reception as well as using the stolen Target gift cards in Upland,” he said. “Rubidoux denied his involvement in the theft.”

Both were arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, commercial burglary, grand theft and conspiracy to commit a crime and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.

It’s unclear if the suspects were guests of the bride and groom.
