Accused bridal burglar caught in Vegas
SAN DIEGO – A woman wanted in a string of wedding ceremony thefts in San Diego and Riverside counties was nabbed by Las Vegas police, investigators announced Wednesday.
Denise Gunderson, 50, was arrested Sunday in Las Vegas and charged with stealing a wallet at a church, according to San Diego County Sheriff’s detective Lisa Jenkins. Investigators determined Gunderson was lying about her identity and linked her to various charges in the Southern California.
Brides in San Diego and Riverside counties reported wallets being stolen during their wedding ceremonies between July and October, Jenkins said.
Surveillance video shows Gunderson at weddings in Coronado, La Mesa and other San Diego locations, the detective said. Then, she was seen at stores racking up thousands of dollars worth of charges on the stolen credit cards, according to Jenkins.
Gunderson, who also is known as Denise Burns, is facing multiple counts of burglary, identity theft and grand theft. She is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas and is awaiting extradition back to San Diego County to face charges.
