Police arrested Vasiliy "Ardi" Galashev, 61, Monday after his DNA matched evidence from a sexual assault investigation.
The registered sex offender is accused of assaulting a woman while he provided massage services in May. Evidence was collected from the victim during the investigation and sent to the San Diego Sheriff’s Crime Lab for forensic analysis.
In July, Galashev was interviewed by detectives. DNA was collected from Galashev and analyzed by the crime lab experts. Months later, the San Diego Sheriff’s Crime Lab contacted the Escondido Police Department and confirmed the DNA and physical evidence submitted for this case were an exact match.
Galashev was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on charges of rape and false imprisonment.
Detectives said there could be more victims. Galashev apparently referred to himself as, “Master Ardi,” a self-proclaimed 7th generation Tibetan Healer, police said.
Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact Det. Jeff Udvarhelyi with the Escondido Police Department’s Family Protection and Child Exploitation Unit.
