Volkswagen driver dies in crash with pickup truck
SAN DIEGO — A driver was killed and another injured in a crash at a Skyline-area intersection Thursday morning.
A red pickup truck and a newer black Volkswagen car collided at the intersection of Brandywood and South Woodman around 7 a.m., according to San Diego police and fire officials. The Volkswagen’s driver became trapped in the wreckage of his car.
Firefighters extricated Volkswagen’s driver, but he died at the scene, according to Capt. Joseph Amador of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition, authorities said.
Woodman Street was closed between Bullock and Plaza roads. San Diego police urged motorists to avoid the area while officers investigated.
