Wells Fargo Bank Robbery

SAN DIEGO — A man clad in exercise clothes robbed a supermarket banking desk in Clairemont Wednesday.

The thief, who appeared to be in his 40s or early 50s, confronted a teller at the Wells Fargo office in a Vons store in the 4700 block of Clairemont Drive and demanded cash about 11:15 a.m., according to San Diego police.

The bandit fled with an undisclosed amount of money in a gold-and-brown Chevrolet Suburban SUV, Officer Frank Cali said.

The robber was described as a roughly 6-foot-tall, 175-pound Latino or black man with short hair. He was wearing a black track suit with white trim and a black cap.
