SAN DIEGO — Authorities asked the public Tuesday for help in identifying a motorist involved in a Bay Park hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist seriously injured.
The 55-year-old victim was in a bike lane, pedaling to the east up a hill in the 2700 block of Clairemont Drive, when a 2005 to 2009 model Buick LaCrosse struck her from behind shortly before 8 a.m. last Thursday, according to San Diego police. The driver did not stop and left the area, Sgt. Ray Battrick said.
Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of a severe injury to her left ankle.
The crash knocked a passenger-side mirror assembly off the metallic blue car. Investigators believe the sedan also sustained visible front-end damage.
Anyone with information that might help police identify the involved driver was asked to call traffic Detective Heidi Hawley at 858-495-7811 or, after business hours, SDPD communications, 619-531-2000.
