CLEVELAND– As the city prepares to take center stage for this week’s Republican presidential debate, it’s worth noting that 35 years ago, Cleveland hosted a pivotal debate.

On Oct. 28, 1980, President Jimmy Carter, the Democratic candidate, squared off in Cleveland against Republican challenger Ronald Reagan in their only debate of that campaign.

FOX 8’s Bill Sheil said, 35 years later, it is two lines that Reagan spoke that night that political people still talk about to this day.
