Woman killed when SUV slams into light pole

SAN DIEGO – A woman was killed on Tuesday after the SUV in which she was riding crashed in Serra Mesa, according to police.

The Honda CRV had four people inside when it crashed into a light pole while travelling west on Gramercy Drive around 6:30 p.m. The driver, 75, lost control of the car and ran onto the sidewalk and across an intersection, at which point the vehicle slammed into a light pole.

A passenger in the back, also 75 years old, died from internal injuries after being taken to the hospital. The driver and two other passengers suffered minor injuries.

San Diego police were looking into what caused the crash.
