Oceanside police dogs earn top honors at competition

OCEANSIDE, Calif. – Three police dogs from Oceanside recently competed against dozens of other teams and brought home several awards, including two first place finishes, it was announced Monday.

During the weekend of June 27-28, 2015 Oceanside Police Officers and their K-9 partners competed in a competition in Bakersfield, Calif. In spite of very hot weather, the teams did very well.

Officer Smith & K9 Nero, Officer Hay & K9 Gonzo and Officer Wilson & K9 Atlas all competed at the Bakersfield Police Department K9 Competition against over 30 other K9 Teams.  All three of the Oceanside Police Department handlers did well bringing home several awards as follows:

  • 5th Place Narcotics – Vehicle Search
  • 5th Place Obedience
  • 5th Place Area Search
