SAN DIEGO — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three people who wound up treading water in San Diego Bay Wednesday afternoon when a 20-foot catamaran overturned.
The multi-hulled vessel flipped over east of Point Loma about 12:30 p.m., according to USCG public affairs.
Personnel aboard a 33-foot Coast Guard craft went to the area and pulled the uninjured boaters out of the harbor.
The owner of the catamaran arranged for a commercial salvage company to get the vessel back to Shelter Island Marina.
It was not immediately clear what caused the mishap.
