Armed carjackers get away after crashing into telephone pole

VISTA, Calif. - Sheriff's deputies were searching for two men who stole a car at gunpoint at a gas station in Vista Tuesday night.

The carjacking happened at 10:40 p.m. at the Chevron station at the corner of Emerald and West drives. One of the carjackers fired his gun during the carjacking, at which point the two victims ran away, according to San Diego County Sheriff's Sgt. Martha Hernandez.

The carjackers drove south on Emerald Drive in the stolen car before crashing into a telephone pole on Sunset Drive less than 10 minutes later. The men then hopped out of the car and ran from the scene, according to a witness.

A good description of the suspects was not available. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's department.
