SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A pair of suspected burglars opened fire on a man who gave chase after catching them rummaging through his car in the Del Cerro neighborhood early Thursday, but no one was injured, police said.

The victim, who is in his 50s, spotted the two prowlers using flashlights to look around inside his Cadillac parked outside his home on Wenrich Place around 2:50 a.m., San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

As the resident walked outside, the suspects drove off in a silver sedan. He got in his car and followed them, Delimitros said.

One of the suspects fired shots at the pursuing man at the west end of Del Cerro Boulevard and again in the vicinity of Friars and Santo roads before he gave up the chase. Neither the man nor his victim was struck.
