SAN DIEGO — The new hippopotamus calf born at the San Diego Zoo is a girl, animal care staff at the San Diego Zoo determined Tuesday.

The calf, born March 23 to mother Funani, has been named Devi. Keepers estimate Devi weighs between 90 and 110 pounds.

Devi is the fifth calf that Funani has raised at the zoo. They can be seen Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at the zoo’s 150,000-gallon hippo pool.
