Bloody murder scene discovered in Chula Vista office park

CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Police were combing a bloody crime scene for clues Thursday morning after a man was found dead in a Chula Vista office park.

The crime scene was expanded after police discovered a blood trail that stretched on for at least a mile. They were trying to determine if the man, 44,  was hurt elsewhere and then wandered to the office park.

The circumstance of the crime were unclear and it had not yet been determined if a weapon was used.

A 911 call was made shortly before 2 a.m. when someone spotted the man lying in the hallway of the office park at 45 3rd Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Chula Vista Fire.

Officers followed blood trails around the crime scene and interviewed people in the neighborhood to gather evidence. Homicide division took over the investigation, which was expected to last throughout Thursday morning.
