NEW YORK - A woman said a tattoo parlor in New York best known for its VH1 reality show “Black Ink Crew” left her disfigured.

According to PIX11, Asabi Barner, 30, chose to go to Black Ink, a tattoo parlor in Harlem that has its own reality show on VH1, because they claim to be the best when it comes to tattooing African American skin.

Barner chose to get a “massive chest piece,” and she said at first it looked phenomenal. But Barner said the next morning the area surrounding her left breast started to ooze with pus. Barner consulted with another tattoo artist, and the artist said her skin was “overworked” in an attempt to bring out a white color for her tattoo

Now more than a year later, Barner is still in pain.

She told PIX11 that her skin has keloids, is raised, and it burns and itches to a point in which she only gets relief by applying an ice pack every single day. Barner even spoke with a plastic surgeon, but the doctor told her surgery would only make her scar worse.

“I wasn’t overly confident before, but I felt good about myself. Felt good about my body, but it just changes you,” said Barner.

Barner is suing Black Ink, claiming the shop was reckless, careless and negligent.
