Fire engulfs GE appliance plant
The blaze raged out of control throughout the morning and flames and heavy smoke continued to pour out of the facility as of 7:30 a.m. PST. More than 100 firefighters were at the scene trying to make headway. The building was quickly evacuated once the fire started.
Huge pillars of thick, black smoke could be seen pouring into the sky as the fire spread all throughout the facility and pieces of heavy ash were raining down on the ground. No injuries were reported. Everyone within a half mile radius of the fire was asked to remain inside.
The fire started in a building used for storage, according to a former employee of GE. The building collapsed around 5:30 a.m. PST and is now considered a total loss.
