Motorcycle cop hit by car in Oceanside

OCEANSIDE, Calif. – A motorcycle cop was on his way to help with a car crash when he was hit by a car Monday morning, police said.

Authorities blocked traffic at 7:30 a.m. near state Route 76 and Benet Road to investigate two separate crashes, one involving an Oceanside police officer riding a motorcycle.

The officer was flown to a hospital with moderate to severe injuries.

It was unknown if anyone else was injured the crashes.  The cause of both collisions were under investigation.
