Suspect in shooting of CBS8 sports anchor due in court

SAN DIEGO – Mike Montana, the suspect in the shooting of CBS8 sports anchor Kyle Kraska, is set to appear in court Tuesday.

Montana will be arraigned at the San Diego County Courthouse after 1:30 p.m.

Kraska, 48, was ambushed in his driveway in the 12000 block of Avonette Court shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 10th, and later underwent surgery at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, according to police and CBS8.

Kraska’s condition continues to improve, and he is now able to communicate with doctors and his family.

A 54-year-old man was booked into jail the day after the incident on suspicion of shooting Kraska at his Scripps Ranch home.

Mike Montana surrendered to SWAT officers in El Cajon shortly before 10 p.m. February 10th, according to San Diego police. He was booked into San Diego Central Jail at 5:43 a.m. on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder , according to jail records.
