SAN DIEGO - A wrong-way driver was in jail Friday morning after flipping his car during a short police chase in Encinitas, the San Diego Sheriff's Department said.

24-year-old David Hill was spotted just after midnight driving south on the North Coast Highway 101 near Jupiter Street. When sheriff's deputies tried to pull Hill over, he took off and lead them on a pursuit that lasted just half a minute.

Hill then slammed into two parked cars, flipping his own in the process. He jumped out and tried to run away from police. Deputies quickly caught up to him and arrested him.

Hill was out on bail for stealing a car. Deputes found burglary tools and drug paraphernalia in his car after the chase.

No one was hurt during the pursuit.
