COMPTON, Calif. – Death Row Records founder and rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight was booked into jail and charged with murder early Friday morning after a deadly hit and run in Compton, sheriff’s deputies said.

Knight turned himself in at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department and is being held on $2 million dollars bail. He was wanted as a person of interest in the death of a 55-year-old man. A 51-year-old man was also seriously injured in the hit and run.

“Looks like he drove backwards and struck the victims and drove forwards and struck them again,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Lt. John Corina said.

Knight, 49, gave a brief statement with his attorney present at the West Hollywood sheriff’s station early Friday.

He reportedly argued with two men at a restaurant before the hit and run occurred.

Knight has been arrested several times throughout his career and was most recently shot at a party given by fellow rapper Chris Brown.
