SAN DIEGO -- City utilities crews worked Sunday to repair a broken water main in City Heights.

The pipe broke around 7 a.m. beneath 54th Place near Trojan Avenue, according to the city Public Utilities Department and police.

City officials said running water would likely be restored to those who lost service by 9 p.m. Sunday.

The roadway was closed between Orange and Trojan avenues while the repairs were underway, police said.
