SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Deputies arrested a 45-year-old man in San Marcos Sunday night on suspicion of fatally shooting his brother.

San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies went to the 1300 block of Granite Road in San Marcos at 6:15 p.m. after Fermin Olano, 45, called them, San Diego County Sheriff’s Lt. John Maryon said.

Deputies found the body of Olano’s younger brother in the home. Investigators said the victim had multiple gunshot wounds.

It was not immediately clear if the shooting was in self-defense or if the victim was armed.

The lieutenant said Olano was taken into custody, but since the investigation was in the early stages he was not sure if the suspect would face charges.
