Local organizations feed hundreds before Thanksgiving

SAN DIEGO -- At least two local organizations fed hundreds of homeless and low-income people traditional Thanksgiving meals Wednesday.

The Interfaith Center in Escondido served about 200 people Wednesday afternoon, thanks to local businessman Chuck Herr.  The Washington Avenue center plans to serve hundreds again Thursday between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Father Joe's in Downtown served Thanksgiving meals to nearly 800 people Wednesday. On Thursday, the organization will host the 13th Annual Father Joe's Villages Thanksgiving Day 5K Run in Balboa Park. Participants can sign up here or at the start line on Thursday.
