Fire damages sushi restaurant in Vista

VISTA, Calif. — A fire erupted in a sushi restaurant in Vista Thursday, damaging it and a neighboring nail salon, authorities said.

The noninjury fire at Cafe Sushi at 3245 Business Park Drive was reported at 5:46 a.m. and crews declared it under control at 6:35 a.m., according to Vista Deputy Fire Chief Ned Vander Pol.

Cafe Sushi sustained heavy fire and smoke damage, while a neighboring nail salon sustained moderate damage from smoke and water, Vander Pol said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
