VISTA, Calif. – An investigation was under way Monday in Vista, where a 16-year-old boy was stabbed for refusing to hand over his skateboard, authorities said.
The stabbing at 325 W. East Drive was reported just before 9 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego County sheriff’s Sgt. Martha Hernandez.
The victim told investigators he was walking home after buying dinner when he ran across a boy he knew, who demanded his skateboard, the sergeant said in a statement.
“When the victim refused, an altercation ensued, the victim was stabbed and the suspect fled,” she said.
Paramedics took the injured teen to Palomar Medical Center, Hernandez said, adding that his wound was not life-threatening.
