SAN DIEGO -- Deputies arrested a 58-year-old San Diego man Thursday on charges that he molested multiple children over a 10-year period while a teacher at an East County grammar school.

Robert Noel Anderson was arrested at about 6:30 a.m. at his home in Allied Gardens, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators accuse Anderson of molesting at least five victims who were Dehesa Elementary school children. The current superintendent, Janet Wilson, told Fox 5 Anderson resigned in August of 2006 and no children attending Dehesa since his departure have had any contact with him. Wilson said it was unclear why Anderson resigned, and she did not know how long he had worked at the school.

Neighbors said they never noticed anything unusual, and that only he and his wife lived in their Allied Gardens home.

Anderson was booked into county jail on eight counts of child molestation.  The molestations took place between 2003 and 2013 when he taught 4th and 6th grades at Dehesa Elementary School, investigators said.

Anderson is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday at 1:30 p.m. in El Cajon Superior Court.
