WellsFargoRobberSAN DIEGO – A man wearing glasses and carrying a plastic Target bag threatened a clerk Monday while robbing a downtown San Diego bank.

The thief confronted the teller at Wells Fargo Bank on the 400 block of B Street just after noon Monday and leaned forward and stated “This is a robbery.” He said he was armed with a handgun and threatened he’d harm the teller if she didn’t get him money, the FBI said.

After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the thief placed it into the shopping bag and walked out. A surveillance photo of the robber shows him smirking as he walked away.

No weapons were seen and no injuries were reported.

Witnesses described the robber as 5-foot, 6-inches white man, weighing 160 pounds and approximately 30 to 40 years old. He is balding with black and gray hair and was wearing a black tee shirt, tan pants and glasses.
