Police Line Crime Tape Night

SAN DIEGO — One of two men walking through the Mountain View neighborhood early Thursday was beaten by a group of men and hospitalized with possibly life-threatening injuries, police said.

The two men were on San Pasqual Street near Logan Avenue when a truckload of men pulled up alongside them at 2:40 a.m. and yelled out at them, San Diego police Officer Frank Cali said. One of the assailants had a stick.

The truck’s occupants jumped out and began chasing the pedestrians, catching up to one of them; he was badly beaten with the stick, Cali said. The assailants then got back into the truck and sped away.

The man’s uninjured friend returned to the scene and found him with possibly life-threatening injuries, Cali said.

The injured man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to police.

Seems to be a wise idea to duck behind a parked car or something when a passing car goes by at that hour of night. It's worth the extra effort to not be seen.
