Batman kisses Spider-Man on magazine cover

SAN DIEGO — The July edition of Pacific San Diego Magazine is using Comic-Con to make a statement during LGBT Pride Month .

The cover shows two popular superheroes, Batman and Spider-man, making out.

“As Pride and Comic-Con descend upon San Diego, the time has come to reveal the truth: all heroes are welcome, even when they’re kissing their boyfriends,” said David Perloff, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of the magazine.

The magazine also contains a flirtatious dialogue between the two superheroes.

The issue previews San Diego’s two biggest events, Pride Weekend and Comic-Con, which are just around the corner.

The image has received plenty of positive feedback and criticism.

“I don’t want to see it right on the street where my daughter can get it,” said Cindy Montoya.

Pacific, which isn’t a gay magazine, is distributed for free across San Diego.

San Diego Gay Pride organizers welcome the cover.

“I think that super heroes are all about standing up for justice, so if some have an issue with two people who are embracing in a loving way, what is more heroic than that,” said Fernando López with San Diego Pride.
