United Airlines Flight Bound For Orange County Diverted After Slide Deploys Inside Plane

LOS ANGELES – A United Airlines flight headed to Orange County on Sunday night was diverted after an emergency evacuation slide accidentally deployed inside the plane’s cabin mid-flight, according to spokeswoman for the airliner.

About 100 passengers and crew members were on board the plane when the incident occurred, forcing the plane to make an emergency landing in Wichita, Kan., United Airlines spokeswoman Christen David told KTLA in an emailed statement.

The flight, which originated from Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, was headed to John Wayne Airport.

One passenger said she when she saw the slide, she thought the door to the plane had opened up.
