BRAZIL – Despite jumping out to an 1-0 early lead, the USA fought back a vicious Ghana attack before conceding the equalizer in the 82nd minute.

However, half-time sub John Anthony Brooks delivered the game-winning goal on a head from a corner kick in the 82nd minute giving the United States a 2-1 victory and much needed 3 points. Not only was it Brooks’ first goal for the United States, it was the first goal scored by a US substitute in a World Cup. Not bad for the 21-year old German-American.
