crash-graphicSANTEE, Calif. – The Medical Examiner released the name of the man killed in a single-vehicle crash in Santee.

Christopher John Link, 45, of Lakeside, died Friday morning off State Route 52.

Link had been driving a 2013 Lexus G35 east on Route 52, approaching the Cuyamaca Street offramp. He was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control on the curvy roadway around 12:50 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Kevin Pearlstein said.

“The vehicle became airborne, then overturned multiple times before coming to rest in the embankment below,” the Medical Examiner’s office report said. “An ambulance driver witnessed the incident, pulled over, and called 911.”

Paramedics confirmed Link’s death due to blunt force injuries at the scene, the Medical Examiner said.

Link had been wearing a seatbelt but succumbed to his injuries, Pearlstein said.

According to Pearlstein, “Investigators are working to determine whether alcohol or other drugs were a factor in the crash.”
