Some schools get minimum day because of heat

school-girlsNATIONAL CITY, Calif. — Several schools in the National School District are ending school days earlier this week because of the hot weather.

District officials say schools without air conditioning will be on a minimum day schedule from Tuesday through Friday. Notes have been sent home with students Students will be let go by 1:30 p.m.

The following schools will be let out after kids have lunch:

  • Central School
  • El Toyon Elementary
  • Ira Harbison Elementary
  • John A. Otis Elementary
  • Kimball Elementary
  • Las Palmas Elementary
  • Lincoln Acres School
  • Olivewood School

The San Diego Unified School District is giving tips for parents to make sure their kids are safe at school. It includes bringing extra water bottles, dressing in lightweight clothing, and applying sunscreen before they head off to school.
