Adult book store robber nabbed

SAN DIEGO – An adult book store in Kearny Mesa was robbed at gunpoint, but undercover detectives working in the area were waiting for the suspect and arrested him.

TBook-Store-Robberyhe detectives saw the armed suspect, who was wearing a mask and a hooded jacket, walk into Mercury Books at 7535 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. at 8:45 a.m., San Diego police Officer Dan Lasher said.

The robbery was called in while detectives waited nearby for the suspect to leave the business, Lasher said.

Authorities confronted the suspect in what they determined was a safe location, and arrested him, Lasher said. The name of the suspect was not immediately available.

According to Officer Dan Lasher, “An disclosed amount of cash and a handgun were recovered.”

No injuries reported.
