SAN DIEGO – A vehicle caught fire on the side of Interstate 15 just north of Interstate 8 causing traffic to slow during Monday’s evening commute, California Highway Patrol said.
It took San Diego Fire-Rescue Department crews about 45 minutes to extinguish the recreation vehicle fire that started at 5 p.m.
About a quarter acre of brush on the side of the highway caught fire, but was quickly put out.
SDFRD dispatcher said everyone was able to get out of the vehicle without getting injured.
The cause was not immediately known.
