El CAJON, Calif. —   The City of El Cajon drew large crowds Sunday as it celebrated the start of the holiday season with its 67th annual Mother Goose Parade.

Hundreds of families showed up early to pick out their spots to watch the largest parade in the western part of the United States.

Veteran radio personality, “Shotgun” Tom Kelly, was the Grand Marshal. He led the way for everything from balloons to clowns to beauty queens, including the 2013 Miss El Cajon Morgan Gallo.

“It’s a lot of fun watching everybody in the community come together,” parade spectator Jessica Wiegers said.

The parade became an annual tradition for the city after it was created back in 1946. It takes place every year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
